Aside from several other reasons among the one mention above, so many people see buying hybrid cars as a new vogue.  The idea of hybrid cars is not really something that began today.  Electric, steam, and gasoline cars have been manufactured by American car makers back in the 1900’s in the same quantity.  Buying hybrid cars then was not different from purchasing the normal cars.

The first engineer that takes a patent to produce a car with electric and gasoline powered car was H. Piper, after it was discovered that this kind of vehicle can be produced in 1905.
However, the development of alternative vehicles of that kind was deemed unnecessary when oil became very cheap due to the numerous oil fields in the oil producing countries, particularly the Arab nations.  But the cheap oil phenomenon took a new turn in the 1970s as fuel price began to sky rocket.  And, in no time, the issue of fuel environmental degradation became a problem also. This left car makers with no choice than to revert to the old process of developing an alternative vehicle.  After series of experiment beginning from the 1980s, the first hybrid vehicle was born in 2000 in the U.S.

As time goes on, car makers, through experience, where encouraged to manufacture a more complex form of these vehicles that has more than one source of power.
Buying hybrid today is actually investing now for future gain because hybrid cars are no doubt the cars of the future.  The president of Toyota Motor Sales USA, Mr. Jim Press comments in an interview that almost everything; in no time will be become hybrid.  It could be gas hybrid a diesel hybrid or a fuel-cell hybrid.
