Ford was the first American car manufacturers to produce hybrid car in America; the Escape SUV hybrid model in September 2004. This initiative began in the 1990s after the US government had talks with America top cars manufacturers, GM, Ford and Daimler Chrysler concerning making a hybrid car type that fits the American life style and budget. This was in other to follow suit of their Japanese and European car manufacturer’s counterpart who are the first to introduce hybrid cars.

Ford Hybrid Cars.
Ford’s first hybrid car, though earlier scheduled to be unveiled in 2003, saw its first baby the ford Escape SUV hybrid, come out in September 2004. The vehicle is powered by both electric motor and gas engine.  The vehicle also boasted of less gas emission of less than one pound in smog substance.  For every 1500 miles covered by the car; compared to the conventional gas powered light truck which up to 105 pound.  Of the same polluting substance for every 15000 miles covered.  This is in doubt a considerable improvement seeing that even the normal vehicle emit 67 pounds of smog substances for the same mileage.
When Ford Escape, which was designed as an SUV was launched, it walked its way into the users, heart because of its similitude to SUV which of course Americans were conversant with and this was prefer above Japanese model which have a rather smaller look and design.

Gm’s Hybrid Cars.
GM released it first versions of hybrid vehicles in 2004 and it received a warm welcome and sales volume hitting 2006 units. Both hybrid cars, the Silverado and the Sierra sold without ado. This version of hybrid is expected to hit 3000 units in sales by the end of this year. Also about to launch by GM is her Saturn VUE this year is the new hybrid version of the Chevrolet. Malibu with also be unveiled this year.
Not withstanding, the Japanese and European Hybrid cars manufacturers still takes the lead ahead of American hybrid makers like Ford and GM. But they are working relentlessly and core coming very close. These two companies are giants when it comes to hybrid cars making in the U.S.

Hybrid cars a quite expensive compared to it traditional gas-powered counterparts.  But this may not be so for long since this cars are just been introduced.  With time, when environmental projection issues becomes the order of the day, hybrid cars may have to be sold at a normal and affordable price.

Those who are crazy about cars were awe struck and completely amazed when the electric cars! But the excitement and enthusiasm did not last long as it was soon discovered that this wonderful new breed of cars has limitations.  Electric cars use electricity to power the engines as supplied by batteries installed in the vehicle.  Thus, it does not require gasoline to operate.  This also reduces the level of gas emission significantly.

The major disadvantage or limitation of this car is the mileage and speed capacity.  It is far less effective when compared to the gas-powered traditional cars.  The electric cars can only run for around hundred miles averagely, after which its battery will need recharging.  This is in contrast and far less than the gas-powered cars which can run 300 miles on the average before gasoline refill is required.  This made the electric car a near impossible challenge to cope with.
