There are different hybrid vehicles in the market this present day.  One thing worth considering is the fact that hybrid cars are growing and taking the world of cars.  It is not a thing that will fade out soon because of it attribute of its improved technology, fuel economy and the resolving of environmental problem.

So, if you are at the verge of purchasing a hybrid car, do not hurry into getting one before actually making a careful research and proper comparison amongst the varying hybrid cars available in the market today.
The four main models of hybrid cars in the market, amongst which we can make comparison, are the Toyota Prius, the Honda Civic, Hybrid, the Honda Insight and the Honda Accord Hybrid.  You can also make your selection among other hybrid cars; drive the Lexus RX 400h, Ford Escape Hybrid which was the first available SUV hybrid, the mariner hybrid and Toyota highlander hybrid.
The first thing to consider in comparing these hybrid vehicles before you make a choice is the mileage.  In the U.S in this present days, fuel usage, city and highway combined is, on average, estimated to be 20.4miles per gallon (mpg).  Most hybrid cars, if not all, fall short of early specification in fuel mileage.

In terms of gas mileage, Honda Insight no doubt is made to get the best and it leads other hybrid in that aspect.  The manual transmission hybrids have estimated 60mpg and 66mpg EPA in the city and on the highway respectively.  On the other hand transmission for the automatic version stood at 57 and 56 mpg for city and highway respectively.
The latest version of the Prius is the first runner up; coming next to the Honda Insight with 60 and 51 mpg for city and highway respectively.  The city estimate is higher than that of the highway because the hybrid car has a capacity, low speed to operate only on battery power.
The 2006 Honda civic hybrid has a manual transmission that was rated at 46 city/51 highway; the automatic version at 48 city/47 highway.  Hybrid sedan has rating of 25 city/28 highway.

The Ford Escape has a rating of 36 city/31 highway making far better than its non-hybrid counterpart will a mileage of 22 city/25 highway.
The hybrid with the lowest of gas mileage is the SUV/ G540H.

Size
Size is another important factor to be put into consideration when comparing hybrid.  Number of passenger and amount of load that may need to be moved from one location to another is a thing to consider.  In the early stage of hybrid cars, only two sizes of hybrid were manufactured.  The first, been a small sized vehicle and the one that follows was far smaller.  When makers of hybrid discovered users aspire for a much bigger model of hybrid, they work towards making some available.
The Honda Civic Hybrid, a compact sedan is a fire passenger vehicle with an exterior of same similitude to the non-hybrid civic.  It has the same size of interior.
The Prius 2000 – 2003 has five seats which was updated in 2004 into a mid – size car.

Price is also a factor or a means for comparison
